Today we’re kicking off our first new blog series, Employee Spotlight, focusing on the faces behind the data at RJ Health Systems. Our first edition shines the spotlight on Jessica DeLeon CPC, Quality Assurance Manager, Clinical and Data Services. Jessica has been working at RJ Health Systems since 2008, working in the Clinical and Data Services Department and she specializes in the creation and maintenance of our clinical crosswalks and databases.
How would you describe your role at RJ Health Systems?
I oversee the development and maintenance of our clinical crosswalks. We are currently expanding our product offerings and I have been an integral part of that process – from the planning to the execution.
I am also the self-appointed chair of our social committee! I believe the morale of an office can make or break your day/week/month/year so it’s important to make sure everyone has a good time at the end of the day.
What’s the best part of your job?
The creative freedom that I am allowed. When I started here 8 and a half years ago, our website – ReimbursementCodes.com – had one or two “add-on modules.” Over the years, I (and my team) have been able to build additional clinical modules to meet the specific needs of our clients.
I really also love the small office vibe. It feels more like a family then a workplace. You spend most of your week with your coworkers and I genuinely enjoy working with all of them.
How has RJ Health Systems helped in your career development?
RJ Health Systems has exposed me to many different aspects and areas of the Healthcare world. What we specialize in at RJ Health Systems can seem “niche-y” but in reality, we play an important role at various points of the billing and reimbursement cycles for many organization types (i.e. private payors, specialty pharmacies, physician offices etc.).
RJ Health Systems has also taught me the value in a close relationship with your customers and clients. Customer service is often a forgotten art form, but not here!
Could you describe RJ Health Systems in 3 words?
Anything can happen!
Do you have an office nickname?
Ponce. Only one person calls me that but it’s all I have!
What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
Travel – I average about three vacations per year. By the end of 2016 I will have gone to Hawaii, Bermuda and Iceland!
Least favorite food?
What’s on your bucket list?
Learn how to play piano. Specifically, “My Heart Will Go On” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Kittens. All the kittens.
