John Aforismo is the Chairman and Founder of RJ Health Systems, the drug information company that he established in 1983. With his extensive knowledge of numerous aspects of Managed Care, Pharmaceutical Benefit Design and Drug Plan Management, John is a sought-after consultant for the Managed Care Industry and Workers’ Compensation Pharmacy Management Programs, as well as Long-Term Care Drug Management. He has also partnered with the pharmaceutical industry to assist in providing value-added tools to their MCO and physician group clients.
John developed the only comprehensive billing and coding database for reimbursement of drugs used by providers in out-patient settings, which now serves as the gold standard in the industry. In conjunction with these databases, he championed the development of websites devoted to appropriate billing of Medicare Part B/Part D drugs and injectable/specialty drugs. Under his guidance, RJ Health Systems has focused on patient compliance and the provision of educational tools for consumers, as evidenced by the development of drug labels for prescription drugs, provider and consumer newsletters, and patient education posters and brochures.
A frequent presenter in various domestic and European symposia concerning drug management in the health care industry, John has served and continues to serve as a member of numerous Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committees. He continues to volunteer his time providing pharmaceutical consultation to the Town of Wethersfield, Connecticut’s senior citizens.
John earned a Pharmacy Degree (B.Sc. Pharmacy) from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
Tom Comcowich joined RJ Health Systems in October 2001 as Vice President, Drug Information Services. As Vice President, Tom has extensive involvement in the development and maintenance of the various Drug Informational Databases developed by RJ Health Systems. Additionally, he has a major role in all consulting activity of the company.
Prior to joining RJ Health Systems, Tom was Director of Pharmacy for Health Net of the Northeast, a 1.1 million member Managed Care Organization serving the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania for a period of 12 years. Prior to his tenure at Health Net of the Northeast, Tom was a member of the Pharmacy team at Community Health Care Plan, a staff model HMO serving the greater New Haven County in Connecticut.
His extensive background in all aspects of Managed Care Pharmacy, including utilization review, formulary management, network management, business operations, and benefit design, enable Tom to oversee the Consulting Services, Drug Informational Databases and Patient Education divisions of RJ Health Systems.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Northeastern University and a Masters of Business Administration - Healthcare Management from the University of New Haven. He is a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Connecticut and is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
Michael Giusani is the Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services, Workers’ Compensation Division for RJ Health Systems. He is responsible for developing and maintaining Workers’ Compensation Pharmacy Management Programs, which include but are not limited to Drug Utilization Review, Formulary Management, Benefit Design and Policy & Procedure Development.
Michael has worked with the pharmaceutical industry to provide assistance in their knowledge of Drug Adherence and Medicare/Medicaid issues. He also is an active participant in various domestic symposia regarding issues in Workers’ Compensation and prescription drug coverage.
Prior to joining RJ Health Systems, Michael was a member of the pharmacy team at CVS/Pharmacy. During his tenure at CVS/Pharmacy he gained extensive experience in Patient Compliance Initiatives, Patient Counseling and Drug Utilization Review.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He is a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Connecticut and is a member in good standing of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
Tom Mancini joined RJ Health Systems in June 2000 as Vice President, Information Services. Tom’s primary responsibilities encompass the planning, design and implementation of the software systems that deliver the products marketed and sold by RJ Health Systems.
He has more than 20 years of technology experience in addition to a comprehensive knowledge base in insurance, pharmaceutical, medical and government programs. Prior to joining RJ Health Systems, he was an Independent Contractor, a Project Manager for Hartford Insurance Group, an Information Technology Manager for Travelers’ Insurance, and a Computer Programmer for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. He has extensive experience in Workers’ Compensation, Managed Health Care, and Property Casualty Insurance with exposure to all facets of the healthcare and insurance industries.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut. He also has several certifications including Project Management Certification from The Boston University Center for Management Development, Sun Certified Programmer, IBM Certified Solution Developer, and Oracle Certified Professional Enterprise Developer.
Susan Moore has been with RJ Health Systems since 1989. As Vice President of Medical/Pharmacy Records, she has established relationships with a multitude of healthcare facilities and group homes across Connecticut. Her responsibilities include the organization and management of all of the Long-Term Care administrative records.
Along with her staff, Susan ensures that administrative records are transcribed accurately and efficiently. She also oversees the creation of monthly newsletters for nurses and staff that detail potential drug issues and updates.
Prior to joining the company, Susan worked for Hartford Hospital in the pharmacy department. Her role in this clinical setting included responsibility for mixing IV medications and TPN Solutions, filling unit dose carts and compounding medications.
Susan has been a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician since 1997. She graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Allied Health Pharmacy Technician Program.
Franco Saporoso is the Vice President of Operations and Human Resources for RJ Health Systems. In this role, he works to ensure the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, and practices to achieve both immediate and long-term objectives. Franco oversees methods to continuously improve management reporting, information flow and management, business processes, and organizational planning.
As a member of the Management Team, Franco develops initiatives that enable RJ Health Systems to remain at the forefront of the health care industry. He brings over 10 years of engineering and construction project management experience to bear on turning new ideas into carefully vetted product and service offerings. Franco has developed a project management tracking process that allows RJ Health Systems to achieve organizational effectiveness by assigning the appropriate resources to each project.
Prior to joining RJ Health Systems, Franco’s work experience included managing a vast array of multimillion-dollar engineering, construction and facility contracts. His projects included overseeing consultants, resources, materials and financials for projects in the private, commercial, industrial and utility market sectors.
Franco received his B.S.E. in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He holds a certificate in construction management from the University of Hartford, as well as his Connecticut Professional Engineering License.
Lou DelMastro has joined RJ Health Systems May 2011 as the Vice President of Business Development, responsible for managing all aspects of sales, marketing, and customer service. Prior to joining RJ Health Systems Mr. DelMastro worked for 19 years in the pharmacy benefits management industry, first with Advance PCS for 10 years and most recently with CVS/CAREMARK for 9 years. During his tenure he held positions early in his career as a sales director and then Vice President level positions overseeing account management and various sales departments.
Mr. DelMastro has extensive experience in sales, sales management, marketing, as well as general pharmacy management applications. Mr. DelMastro also oversaw the CVS/CAREMARK TPA Advisory committee, the TPA marketing committee and served on the Best Practice committee.
Mr. DelMastro received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management from Quinnipiac University in 1982, as well as an MBA from Quinnipiac University in 1991.
